Love music? Help the band play on

The Franklin Symphonic Council is sponsoring a donation drive for band instruments for Franklin Community Schools.

Each school year, the district has students in grades six through 12 who would like to join the band program but can’t afford to rent an instrument or the schools don’t have enough instruments to lend to them.

All types of wind instruments are needed, both brass and wood, as well as a set of drums.

If you have one of these instruments and want to donate, the council will have the instrument evaluated by a repair service and, if it can be refurbished or repaired, will pay for that work before giving it to the schools.

Donors will receive a letter acknowledging the donation of the instrument, which can be used as a tax deduction.

To donate an instrument, contact council president Linda Airey at 306-9985, or Jane Stafford at 738-5994.
