Johnson Memorial plans Greenwood doctors office

Plans for a Johnson Memorial Health physician building along U.S. 31 in Greenwood are in the final design stages.

Developers have applied for construction permits and hope to begin building the single-story office building in the spring, said David Lach, director of site services for Cripe architects and engineers.

An exact starting date has not been decided. Before crews begin construction, American World Mattress, at 1000 U.S. 31 South, will have to be demolished, Lach said.

As many as three doctors could practice at the new building. Johnson Memorial Health purchased the property for about $850,000.

Initial plans have the physician office between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet. Final design plans have been given to Keystone Construction, which is erecting the building, Lach said.

How long construction will take is not yet known, he said, because crews don’t know how long demolition and cleanup will take at the building, which also was once home to Henselmeier’s Saddlery and Western Wear.
