Center Grove-area church serving as drop-off site

Daily Journal staff reports

A Center Grove area church is a regional drop off site for a Christmas charity, and they need donations.

New Hope Church, located at 5307 Fairview Road, is a collection site for Operation Christmas Child. The project sends shoe boxes filled with small toys, food, toiletries and trinkets to 98 countries.

Volunteers will be at the church 6 to 8 p.m. from Nov. 16 to 20; noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 21 and 22; and 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 23 to pack shoe boxes and get them ready for shipment.

Community members are welcome to volunteer to help get the shoe boxes ready for shipment, or to drop off a filled shoe box, said Elizabeth Robinson, director of the project for the church.

Shoe boxes can be filled with small toys, school supplies, toiletries and food that will travel well, such as hard candy, Robinson said.
