Mikel Steven Arnold

Mikel Steven Arnold, 43, passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood and a longtime resident of Franklin.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1972, in Bloomington, to Danny L. and Margaret E. (Graham) Arnold.

Mikel is survived by his father Danny L. and wife Christina R. Arnold of Bedford; mother, Meg E. Arnold of Indianapolis; sister, Stephanie (Bo) Railey of Brownsburg; step-sister, Lesle (Todd) Payne of Ellettsville; step-brother, Steven (Shannon) Webb of Bloomington; grandmother, Shirley Humphrey of Iowa; grandparents, Amos and Uyvonna Hayes of Bloomington and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in passing by grandparents, Milton and Clara Mae Graham, formerly of Bloomington and grandfathers, John Humphrey and Russell Arnold of Bloomington.

Mikel was a 1991 graduate of Franklin Community High School. He also attended Wabash College for two years. While at Custer Baker Middle School and Franklin Community High School, he was the manager for the basketball, baseball and football teams.

He was employed by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security as a watch desk officer. He formerly worked for Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus for 17 years and also at the American United Life Insurance Company in Information Technology.

Mikel was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He enjoyed fishing and loved music and playing his guitar. He was an avid sports fan, following the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Hoosiers. Mikel was a wine connoisseur.

A celebration of Mikel’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday the funeral home. A committal service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.
