Brew-By-U closes in Center Grove area

Less than a year after it opened, the state’s first brew-on-site business has closed its doors.

Brew-By-U, which allowed people to make and bottle their own beer at its Center Grove area facility, announced that it is ceasing operations immediately. Owner Jeremy Hough, a homebrewer himself, opened Brew-By-U in December.

Customers who came in were provided the recipes, grains, hops and equipment to make up to 14 gallons of beer. The idea was to appeal to residents who would love to brew their own beer, but don’t have the supplies, space or time to do it at home.

Hough also had planned on eventually offering small-batch brews by the pint, though he had to get his brewer’s license first before he could do that.

Brew-By-U was Hough’s part-time job, on top of his work as director of business operations for the Franciscan Physician Network.
