Phyllis Louise Admire Miles

FRANKLIN

Phyllis Louise Admire Miles, a lifetime resident of Greenwood and Franklin, was relieved of earthly suffering and placed into the sweet care of her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, Sept. 19, 2015.

After suffering several years with the horrific effects of Alzheimer’s, the family rejoices that her mind and body are perfectly renewed.

Fun-loving and a nurturer by nature, Phyllis will be missed by all who called her mom, grandma, sister, aunt or friend. She never knew a stranger and was always reaching out to draw you into her circle of friends.

She was loved by so many and leaves a legacy of warm hospitality, especially with her lifelong bridge club and a gazillion other friends. She knew how to play a good golf game but valued her golfing buddies more than the score.

Wherever Phyllis worked she was known as a faithful employee. Out of love for Christ and wanting others to know him, she faithfully served many years with Christian Business and Professional Women as a board member and speaker, as well as being a faithful member at Community Church of Franklin.

Another legacy was Phyllis’ daily reading of the Word of God and consistent prayer life for those she loved and knew. Her mornings were never complete without a cup of coffee, her Bible open on her lap and a prayer list nearby. Many of us have relied on those prayers for years.

Her children, Rick and Pamela, reminisce freely about her support of their every effort in school or sports. She knew they could do anything and encouraged them to do so. She never missed a game or performance.

As little guys, her grandsons, James and Chris Grillo, dubbed her with the nickname “Honey,” and it fit perfectly. Rarely was she called anything else by her family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Miles, on June 26, 2015; her mother and stepfather, Edie and Ben Castleman; her father and stepmother, Ronald and Wilma Admire; two half brothers, Sonny and Phillip Admire; and a grandson, James Grillo.

Surviving immediate family members include a son and wife, Rick and Sylvia Miles; her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and David Quinones; a grandson, Christopher Grillo; and two great-granddaughters, Josephine and Mackenzie Grillo.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Community Church of Franklin, 2005 Upper Shelbyville Road, followed by a fellowship dinner. Committal will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial gifts be made to Community Church of Franklin, 2005 Upper Shelbyville Road, Franklin, IN 46131.

Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, is assisting the family with arrangements.

“Honey, your children rise and call you blessed. You were an industrious, faithful woman of God!”
