Blanche Anne Gurnik

Blanche Anne Gurnik, 87, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born June 1, 1928, in Cicero, Illinois, to James and Mary (Johanek) Rys.

She married Charles Gurnik, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Gregory C. (Julie) Gurnik of Bargersville and Gordon (Marjorie) Gurnik of Mendham, New Jersey; two daughters, Maryann (Richard) Nyderek of Tinley Park, Illinois, and Susan (John Bauer) Gurnik of Maitland, Florida; one sister, Adeline Kupfer of Fort Myers, Florida; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Nyderek, Catherine Nyderek, Jesse Kernel, Sarah Gurnik, Carly Gurnik, Levi Bauer, Natalie Gurnik and Holly Gurnik; and one great-granddaughter, Charlie Grace Kernel.

Blanche retired as a secretary at the Indiana Credit Union League, where she worked for many years.

She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time and traveling with her family. No sacrifice was too big when it came to her family’s happiness and education.

A memorial service will take place in the spring, when she will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
