County road to be closed for pipe replacement

North Centerline Road, off State Road 44, will be closed most of Saturday while workers install a new pipe under the road.

The road will be closed starting at 8 a.m. and is scheduled to reopen about 4 p.m., according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation. While the road is closed, a 36-inch-wide drainage pipe will be installed under the road.

The new pipe is part of a more than $1.6 million project to straighten two sharp curves in State Route 44, between Centerline Road and County Road 100W. Earlier this year, construction crews paved a new road that eliminated the sharp turns for motorists.
