Shirley Jean Sorgenfrei

FRANKLIN

Shirley Jean (Bechert) Sorgenfrei, 48, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born May 17, 1967, in Franklin to John Phillip and Betty Jane (Hitchcock) Bechert.

Shirley married Don Sorgenfrei on May 4, 2012; and he survives.

She also is survived by three stepdaughters, Jamie (Scott) Sorgenfrei, Kim (Jeff) Sallee and Theresa (Roger) Barnes; four grandchildren; and 10 siblings, Dale Bechert, John Bechert Jr., Sandy Bechert, Kathy Holdren, Ronnie Joe Bechert, Andy Bechert, Cliff Bechert, Russell Bechert, Peggy Martinez and Judy Hamblen.

She was preceded in passing by her parents and two sisters, Debbie and Karen Bechert.

Shirley was a 1985 graduate of Franklin Community High School.

She was employed by Caterpillar in Franklin as an assembler.

She was a member of the Franklin American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

Shirley’s greatest pastime was fishing. After a good day of fishing, Shirley loved to sit around a warm campfire to talk about the “day’s catch” with the love of her life, Don, and special friends.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. A reception will follow the burial service at American Legion Post No. 205 in Franklin.
