Emerson Avenue Road closure planned

A Greenwood road will close for nearly two weeks in preparation for a new neighborhood being built.

Emerson Avenue, between Worthsville and Pushville roads, will be closed starting Monday until Oct. 30.

The construction of a new subdivision along Emerson Avenue will require rebuilding the road, Greenwood City Engineer Mark Richards said.

Crews will be tearing up the current pavement along Emerson Avenue and pouring cement during the first week of work before widening the road and repaving the surface, Richards said.

While the road is closed, the only traffic allowed will be motorists headed to Mount Pleasant Christian Fellowship and Friendship Baptist Church.

Other traffic will be directed to a detour using Worthsville, Graham and Tracy roads, Richards said.
