FRANKLIN
Ruth Carolyn Stevenson, 92, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born in McLean County, Illinois. Her parents were John Henry and Hattie (Schalk) Smith. Ruth married James Stevenson on March 22, 1945, in El Paso, Texas. He preceded her in passing in June 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Claire Stevenson of Franklin and Amy Di Novo (William) of Chicago.
She also was preceded in passing by her parents; sisters, Leota Smith and Dorothy Haning; and one brother, Richard Smith.
Ruth graduated from Bellflower High School in 1940 and Brown’s Business College in Bloomington, Illinois. She was employed by Johnson Memorial Hospital in the admissions department and retired in 1987.
She attended Grace United Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth was a fan of IU basketball and liked to crochet afghans. She loved to travel to Florida and Chicago with her daughters.
A private service will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin for family and friends.
Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, is assisting the family with arrangements.
