Abstract art on display

A southside art organization is hosting an exhibition showcasing more than 40 abstract paintings through Oct. 24 at the Garfield Park Arts Center.

The public is invited to view the pieces at Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition XI. All 45 paintings are for sale, so art collectors are advised to visit the show early for the best selection.

Artists showing their work are from nine states — California, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Florida and Indiana — and were juried into the exhibit. Their art works represent a wide variety of contemporary media and techniques.

The Garfield Park Arts Center is at 2432 Conservatory Drive in Indianapolis, in the center of the park near the pagoda. Free parking and entrance is at the lower level.

Exhibit hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
