Willu Collette (Wise) Martin, 82, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Suncoast Hospice House Brookside in Palm Harbor, Florida. She was known for her big smile and her enthusiasm for life.

She was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Indianapolis, to Thomas Jerald Wise and Flossie Marie (Parmerlee) Wise. She married Frank K. Martin on Sept. 5, 1954, at the United Methodist Church in Trafalgar, and they are the parents of two children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Willu retired from nursing in June 1995. She worked in hospitals and schools for a total of 41 years. She was a 1951 graduate of Trafalgar High School where she participated in Latin Club and the GAA (Girls Athletic Association). She also ice skated with Ice-O-Rama at the Coliseum in Indianapolis. She attended Franklin College and graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis where she received her R.N. certification.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She especially loved serving with the youth and singing in the choir and doing genealogy. She and her husband served a mission in Okinawa, Japan. She was an Eastern Star and active with the county republicans. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed singing, dancing, sunbathing, boating, the ocean and traveling to new places.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank K. Martin of Franklin; son, Rex (Pam) Martin of Indianapolis; grandson, Kevin (Kimberly) Martin of Acton; granddaughter, Zandra Martin of Concord, California; daughter, Kimberlee (Strait) Hill of Columbus; grandson, Jacob (Hyerim) Hill of Pikeville, Kentucky; granddaughter, Sarah (Derek) Kotowoski of Orem, Utah; great grandson, Myles Ryan Kotowski of Orem, Utah; grandson, Andrew Hill of Sendai, Japan; grandson, Daniel Hill of Columbus and sister, Donna Josette (Wise) Voiles of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Franklin Chapel, 201 N. Eastview Drive, State Road 44, Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St., (US 31), Franklin and Wednesday preceding the services at the Franklin Chapel from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be immediately following the service in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
