A local group dedicated to raising money for families in need during the holiday season will host an annual benefit and bake sale today.
The Warrior Santa Cause fundraiser is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Whiteland Elementary School cafeteria, 20 Center St, Whiteland.
Thousands of donated items will be for sale, including furniture, clothing, household items and toys. The event is cash only and visitors are encouraged to bring their own bags.
Residents interested in donating items for the sale may drop off items 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 2 at the cafeteria doors.
The items that do not sell will be donated to other charitable organizations in central Indiana.
The event is in conjunction with the inaugural Greater Whiteland Community Day, taking place at Beeson Mechanical Service at Whiteland Road and West Street.
The Warrior Santa Cause started in 2010 as an effort to raise $500 for Christmas presents for children in need at one elementary school. It has expanded to include several fundraising events and now helps families from every elementary school in the Clark-Pleasant school district.
