Grand Rental Station stores closing

A company that rents construction and yard equipment, party supplies and moving trucks is closing.

Grand Rental Station stores in Greenwood and Franklin are closing because the owners, Dale and Charlene Johnson, are retiring.

The last regular business day is today, but the company will continue working through Nov. 13 with limited hours to fulfill prior obligations, according to a letter sent to employees.

“This is a decision that has required a lot of contemplation. There has been much thought and discussion in regards to a path that would keep the business open to provide employment for the current staff. However, in the end, it was determined that could not be achieved,” the letter to employees said.

The company has been open since 1992, with locations in Greenwood and Franklin.

All of the company’s inventory will be sold at one of two retirement sales Nov. 6 in Franklin, at 110 Commerce Park Drive, where equipment will be sold, and on Nov. 13 in Greenwood, at 171 Melody Ave., where party supplies will be sold, the letter said.
