Motorcyclist’s crash injuries prove fatal

A Franklin Community High School graduate died this week after being injured in a motorcycle accident.

Zackery J. Groover, 24, died at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Monday. He had been there since suffering multiple injuries in an accident Sept. 8.

Groover, a 2009 Franklin Community High School graduate who also attended high school in Brown County, suffered a head injury in the accident last month.

Police said Groover was riding a motorcycle on a property in the 6100 block of County Road 675W, near Morgantown. A friend told police Groover had been riding the motorcycle and lost control after cresting a hill, according to the accident report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Groover and the motorcycle slid across the ground and hit a pile of logs, the report said.

Groover was flown by medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital and had been there since the accident.
