Steven Wayne Adams, 71, passed away at his residence in Nineveh, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015.

He was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Franklin, to Weldon Adams and Dorothy (Conway) Brown.

Wayne married Carol Ann Houshour on Dec. 23, 1964; and she lovingly survives.

He also is survived by children, Steven D. Adams, S. Suzanne Adams and Nathaniel (Lori) Adams; grandchildren, Zachary Adams, Sierra McVay, Midori Adams and Steven C. Adams; great-grandson, Weston Wayne Adams; and sister, Linda Lennon.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; and sisters, Sherry and Beverly Adams.

Wayne was a 1962 graduate of Franklin High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the nuclear submarine USS Henry Clay. He attended IUPUI and completed the IBEW Local 481 Electrical Apprentice program.

He was employed by Barth Electric as an electrician and later as a field superintendent for 33 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Nineveh Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and long-range shooting. He was a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and competed on the Long Range Muzzle Loading World International Championship Team. He was also a member of the American Legion.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, where military honors will be conducted.
