Evelyn ‘Bea’ McFarland

Evelyn “Bea” (Hamilton) McFarland, 84, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 19, 2015, at Greenwood Health & Living Community. She was a lifelong resident of Morgantown.

Bea was born in Morgan County on April 27, 1931, to her parents, the late Fred and Mattie Belle (Scarbrough) Hamilton Sr.

She married Noble McFarland on July 14, 1953, in Bedford. Noble preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1975, after 22 loving years of marriage.

Bea is survived by a brother, Fred (Mary) Hamilton Jr. of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Audrey Wilson, Wilma Jean Fowler, Harry Marvin Hamilton and an infant sister, Naomi Josephine Hamilton; and nephews David Wilson, Gary Wilson and Marvin Dale Hamilton.

Bea was a member of Mount Zion Separate Baptist Church in Morgantown and will be remembered for her humor, quick wit and her unique laugh.

She made many friends while working as a waitress at Kathy’s Cafe in Morgantown from 1977 to 1992 and the Bizzy Bee Pantry in Martinsville from 1996 to 1999.

Bea also enjoyed her time working at the Little Nashville Opry, preparing dinner for the performing bands, and had her photo taken with more than 50 performing stars.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo, working in her flower gardens and caring for her dogs, Boogie, Sophie and Zoey.

The Revs. Brett Baird and Jeff Hamilton will conduct a celebration of Bea’s life at 7 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Separate Baptist Church, 6961 E. Mahalasville Road, Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time Friday at the church. Inurnment will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Morgantown.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
