Ada Oline Slinker

Ada Oline Slinker, 76, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 20, 2015, at her residence in Franklin.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1938, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Jesse Jackson and Nellie (Pulliam) Jackson.

She married Donald E. Slinker on Nov. 27, 1956.

Ada is survived by five children, Carol (Steve) Rynerson of Franklin, Kim (Mike) Sparrow of Franklin, Donnie (Niamh) Slinker of Indianapolis, Randy Slinker of Franklin and Ronnie (Angie) Slinker of Maine; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Frances Sims of Trafalgar, David Colvin of Columbus and Denny Colvin of Columbus.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Donald Slinker; a daughter, Donita Grace; sisters, Janet Jackson and Mary Jean Durham; and brother, Paul Jackson.

She graduated in 1956 from Columbus North High School.

Ada was employed by Arvin Industries in Franklin, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the union at Arvin Industries.

She was an avid bowler, bowling in leagues in Franklin for many years.

Ada loved playing Scrabble and croquet and going to the casino. She was an avid Pacers fan. She so enjoyed being surrounded by her family and cooking Sunday dinners.

The Rev. Bill Horner will conduct a celebration of Ada’s life at 7 p.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North), Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
