Program offers support for grieving children

St. Francis Hospice offers Caterpillar Kids, a free support program for children ages 5 to 12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Led by a staff trained in bereavement support for children, kids participate in storytelling, art projects, games and other sharing opportunities. Parents are invited to participate in a concurrent session.

The spring series will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays Sept. 16, 23, 30 and Oct. 7 at Christ United Methodist Church, 8540 U.S. 31 South, Indianapolis.

Registration is required.

Screening planned at Community South

Community Hospital South will host a “Know Your Numbers” heart screening on Sept. 22.

The free screening includes a total lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglyceride and TC/HDL ratio), glucose and blood pressure evaluations.

For best total profile results, patients should fast for 10 hours, ingesting nothing but water and take all necessary medication. They should drink 8 to 16 ounces of water prior to the screening. Screening results will be ready in about 15 minutes.

Times available are 9 a.m. to noon. To ensure you will be screened you must arrive by 11:30 a.m.

The hospital is at 1402 E. County Line Road, Indianapolis.

No RSVP is required.
