Homer Morgan

EDINBURGH

Homer Morgan, 85, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at his residence in Edinburgh.

He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Oneida, Tennessee, the son of Elige Morgan and Nannie Mae (Foster) Morgan.

He married Hattie (Couch) Morgan on March 26, 1954. She survives.

He also is survived by two sons, Michael (Vivian) Morgan of Edinburgh and Doyle Ray (Debbie) Morgan of Columbus; a daughter, Lisa (Randy) Dorton of Edinburgh; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darryl Edward Morgan; a daughter, Patricia Diane Phegley; a grandson, Kyle Eugene Morgan; and three sisters, Marie Abbott, Elveda Perry and Kathleen Vanover.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1954.

He attended Church of God Mount Assembly in Columbus.

He was a member of American Legion Post 233.

He retired from Arvin Industries in Franklin after 23 years.

He was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching football and enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel music.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday by Bishop Bob Vance at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
