Local youth agency names interim director

Thelma Slisher, associate director at Youth Connections, has been appointed interim executive director as the board of directors conducts a search for a permanent executive director.

Youth Connections serves about 15,000 people each year through educational enrichment programs, youth services, family programs and community outreach in Johnson and Morgan counties.

Questions regarding programs and day-to-day operations should be directed to Slisher. The board accepted the resignation of Executive Director Tom Bingham in late August.

New leader selected for Greenwood senior center

Sarah Rogers has been chosen as new executive director for The Social of Greenwood senior center.

Rogers has served nonprofits in programming, fundraising, executive and leadership levels, and has a breadth of perspective and experience.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from Indiana University and a Master of Arts degree in museum studies from Syracuse University. Her previous employment included a position as curator of the cultural world collections at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and most recently director of the Johnson County Museum of History. At the Johnson County museum, she honed her nonprofit management skills in fundraising, budgeting, event planning, programming, education and staff and volunteer management. Sarah was also active on the board of Discover Downtown Franklin and served on its promotions committee.

Rogers grew up in Hobart. She lives in Franklin with her husband, Scott, and two daughters.

Home Bank announces hirings, appointments

Home Bank SB has announced several recent new hires and appointments.

Hannah Klare has been named public relations and marketing coordinator. She is responsible for the execution and development of marketing and public relation plans, media relations, in-house design and implementation of communication pieces and brand development. Klare has spent recent years in the association management industry working in communication, marketing and membership management until joining Home Bank SB in July.

Klare is a former resident of Wabash. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis in public relations and marketing in 2014. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and currently serves on marketing committees for the Indiana Society of Association Executives and the Morgan County Community Foundation. She lives in Greenwood.

Scott Hines has joined the team as a commercial loan officer. Hines has been in the banking industry since 1987, working as a bank examiner and commercial banker for the past 20 years.

Hines has lived in White River Township since 1970, was a 1982 graduate of Center Grove High School, and a graduate of Indiana University and Indiana State University. He previously held positions on the Center Grove Bantam Football League and the Center Grove Athletic Booster Club. Hines is also a 1997 graduate of the Johnson County Leadership Academy (JCLA) and current president of the Greenwood Board of Aviation Commissioners.

He lives in Greenwood with his wife, Letha, and their daughters, Lauren and Sam.

Wade Phelps has been named manager of small-business administration lending.

He has been in the banking industry for more than 30 years. He is a graduate of Ball State University, Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma, Indian Bankers Commercial Lending School through the University of Indianapolis, Leadership Academy of Madison County, and most recently, the Academy for Community Leadership through the Muncie-Delaware Chamber of Commerce.

He was the past multiyear chairman of the loaned executive program for the United Way of Delaware County, former board member and instructor of applied economics at Yorktown and Delta high schools for Junior Achievement of East Central Indiana and an adjunct professor for accounting at Ivy Tech State College.

He lives in Greenwood.

Lydia Brown was appointed as assistant vice president/internal auditor at the annual meeting in April. Her responsibilities include regulating internal controls for the institution and ensuring the adherence of compliance regulations and accounting principles.

Brown is a 2010 graduate of Kelley School of Business Indianapolis with a double major in accounting and finance and has been with Home Bank SB since 2010. She is a member of the Financial Manager’s Society.

She lives in Greenwood with her husband and their two young daughters.

Alexandra Smith has been appointed to assistant vice president/director of branch administration. Her responsibilities include retail and administration leadership in the branches and the operational functions of each location for efficiency and growth.

Smith is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University, where she majored in financial counseling and planning. She has been in the banking industry seven years, all of which have been with Home Bank SB. Involved with her community, Smith sits on the board of the Greenwood Rotary and is serving as the Rotary youth exchange counselor.

She lives in Indianapolis.

Mortgage office names top loan originator

Residential mortgage lender Ruoff Home Mortgage announced that Donnie Dodson was top loan originator for their Greenwood office for the month of August. The top spot in each branch office is based on the number of closed loans during the month, as compared to their fellow peers.

Dodson has been with Ruoff Home Mortgage since May. He has won the top spot in the Greenwood branch for three months in a row.

The Greenwood office is at 972 Emerson Parkway, Suite C.

Credit union honors longtime board member

Financial Center First Credit Union recently honored longtime board member William Campbell. Campbell served on the credit union’s board for 24 years, holding various positions including chairman of the board from 1993 to 2007, chairman of the CUSO board from 2004 to 2014, and as a member of other committees.

Campbell had a career for more than 30 years at the Department of Defense and Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

Campbell’s career ties to the military allowed him to serve the credit union movement as a past program committee member for the Defense Credit Union Council and as a member and chairman of the European Defense Credit Union Council. Those ties also helped Financial continue to serve military service men and women and veterans throughout Indiana and beyond.

Campbell and his wife live in Greenwood.

4 orthopedic surgeons join OrthoIndy group

OrthoIndy has announced the addition of four board-certified orthopedic surgeons to the group.

Among them are Dr. James Jagger, medical care director of OrthoIndy Urgent Care.

Jagger graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College. After receiving his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, he completed his residency in emergency medicine from Wright State University School of Medicine and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Northwest Ohio Center for Sports Medicine and the Toledo Hospital/ProMedica Health System.

Before joining OrthoIndy, Jagger worked at University of Kentucky, where he served as the chief of athletic medicine for 14 years. During his time at University of Kentucky, he served as the head team physician, chief of the sports concussion section and multidisciplinary concussion program and faculty of primary care sports medicine fellowship.

Jagger has held several positions as a university physician and staff physician in emergency medicine, sports medicine and occupational medicine.

He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He is board certified in sports medicine and a diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

He serves patients at OrthoIndy Urgent Care South.

Also recently hired is Dr. David Myer, an orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon.

Myer attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in 2005. He graduated summa cum laude with his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, in 2009. Myer completed an orthopedic surgery residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati in 2014 and a foot and ankle fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas in 2015. Myer is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Thoracic surgeon joins Community physicians

Community Physician Network recently hired a new doctor.

Dr. Anoush Jidarian is a thoracic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgeries related to benign and malignant conditions of the thorax and esophagus.

She graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-The New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, where she also completed her general surgery internship and residency. She completed a second residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Jidarian is board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery. She is an MD Anderson Cancer Network-certified provider.
