Mary Christine ‘Chris’ Iverson Handy

COLUMBIA, TENNESSEE

Mary Christine “Chris” Iverson Handy died Sept. 8, 2015, in her home in Columbia, Tennessee.

She was born Dec. 14, 1948, to Robert L. Iverson Sr. and A. Maxine Iverson in Indianapolis.

Chris leaves behind her husband, William E. Handy; sons, Gary L. (Jen) Colasessano, Esq., and Patrick McCarty, both of Indianapolis; brothers, Robert L. (Amy) Iverson, M.D., of Sarasota, Florida, and Rodney A. “Rod” (Barbara) Iverson of Goodyear, Arizona; and two grandchildren, whom she adored, Remington E. and Garin L. Colasessano, both of Indianapolis.

Christy attended Manual High School in Indianapolis and later obtained a bachelor of science degree in anthropology from Middle Tennessee State University. She retired from General Motors, having worked at Allison Division in Indianapolis, GM Assembly in Janesville, Wisconsin, and Saturn Corp. in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Christy will be missed by her extensive family of cousins, her aunt, Mary Brewer from Salem, and the friends she cherished throughout her life.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 801 S. High St. in Columbia, Tennessee, where she was a member.

In lieu of flowers, Chris asked that donations be made to Maury County Animal Shelter.

Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.
