2 men injured when truck hits tree

Two men are recovering from injuries after their truck went off a road east of Greenwood.

David Walker, 55, Indianapolis, and Patrick McCormick, 32, Beech Grove, were headed south on Franklin Road when the 2001 Dodge Ram they were riding in went off the road as it entered a curve and hit a tree at nearly 40 mph, according to the accident report.

The accident happened just after midnight Monday. Walker, who was the passenger in the truck, told police they were heading to Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis when they got lost and crashed just south of Rocklane Road, according to the report.

Walker was out of the truck and walking around when emergency workers arrived and complaining of pain to his elbow. The deputy did not know what injuries McCormick, the driver, suffered, but he had to be removed from the truck by emergency workers, according to the report.

Walker was taken to Franciscan St. Francis, where he was treated and released. McCormick was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed in stable condition Monday.
