Traffic stop ends in arrest on drug charges

A Brown County woman was arrested during a traffic stop after officers found drug paraphernalia in the car.

When he checked her license plate, a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputy found that Afton Davis, 27, 5688 Upper Salt Creek Drive, had a warrant for her arrest on a charge of dealing methamphetamine.

The deputy stopped Davis’ vehicle at 8 a.m. Thursday after the vehicle slowed significantly. The deputy found drug paraphernalia in the car and said Davis appeared groggy.

Davis was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug and possession of paraphernalia, deputies said.

Davis was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on $280,000 bond.
