Government workers, law enforcement officers and other first responders are invited to meals in remembrance of the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
New Whiteland and Greenwood VFW posts are serving meals to help thank servicemen and women and to remember the day.

What: Patriot Day celebration meal
When: 11 a.m. Friday
Where: At the post, 215 N. U.S. 31, New Whiteland
Who: Open to local first responders and civil servants in Whiteland and New Whiteland
Greenwood VFW Post No. 5864
What: Remembrance luncheon
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday
Where: At the post, 333 S. Washington St., Greenwood
The lunch is for all Greenwood city workers. The meal will consist of fried chicken ham, corn, green beans and au gratin potatoes.
