Local students are committing to walking to raise money for their school.
East Side Elementary School in Edinburgh will be having a walk-a-thon Friday.
Students ask for donations as pledges that they will participate in the event.
The walk is the only fundraiser the school participates in, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the school, principal Andy Scholl said.
School officials hope to raise more than $11,000, or $25 per student.
Money will go to help pay for school-wide field trips.Â
Checks for donations can be made to East Side Elementary and can be dropped off in the main office or mailed to 810 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, IN 46124.
