Funeral homes earn excellence award

G.H. Herrmann Funeral Homes was recently recognized by the National Funeral Directors Association with the 2015 Pursuit of Excellence Award.

The funeral home group is one of 155 companies from around the world to receive the distinction.

Honorees are recognized for having high ethical professional standards and providing excellent service to families and communities.

To earn the award, a funeral home must meet or exceed business standards determined by the program and demonstrate proficiency in compliance with state and federal regulations, providing ongoing education and professional development for staff, offering outstanding programs and resources to bereaved families, maintaining an active level of involvement within the community, serving in the funeral service profession and promoting funeral home services through a variety of marketing, advertising and public relations programs. Participants also are required to adhere to a pledge of ethical practices.

G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home was founded in 1926 by George Harry Herrmann and has three southside locations.
