Police: Man throws dog during argument

An Edinburgh man was arrested after a dog was picked up and thrown against a door during a fight with his girlfriend.

Ronald Elmore Jr., 21, 15250 U.S. 31 North, was arrested on charges of torturing an animal and interference reporting a crime, according to the police report.

Elmoreā€™s girlfriend called 911 after the two got in an argument over custody of their daughter. When the woman was on the phone with 911, he took the phone from her and hung up, according to the police report.

A dog got out of the apartment when the woman went outside, shortly after police arrived. Thatā€™s when the dog was grabbed and thrown against the front door of the apartment, according to the police report.

Elmore was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was being held on $2,000 bond.
