LA Waldon Higginbotham, 81, of Franklin, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2015.

Born July 27, 1934, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ashley and Affie (Holder) Higginbotham.

He married Dorothy Alice (Skeel) on Dec. 10, 1967, in Indianapolis.

He worked as a machine set-up person for Arvin Industries in Indianapolis for 43 years, retiring in 1999.

He was an avid gardener, NASCAR fan and finish carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four sons, David (Liz), Bob, Jim (Sandy) and Denny Higginbotham; six daughters, Linda (Bernie) Hutchinson, Beverly (Kip) Layman, Terry Mink, Lenny Pennell, Donna (Bob) Clark and Stephanie (Mark) Lloyd; a brother, Jackie (Caralee) Higginbotham; three sisters, Phyllis Hardwick, Joyce Smith and Alice Fay; and 66 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Bowen; a sister, Lenny Higginbotham; four brothers, Cledis, Andrew, Jerry and Dallas Higginbotham; and a granddaughter, Christina Crocket.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
