Robert Reese ‘Bob’ Tranter

FRANKLIN

Robert Reese “Bob” Tranter, 84, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, in Franklin. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin.

He was born on Jan. 19, 1931, in Franklin to Robert Reese and Mary Blanche (Smith) Tranter. Bob married JoAnn Friddle on Dec, 2, 1953. She lovingly survives.

They were blessed with four children, Cindy Lynn who preceded in passing, Debbie (Clint) Halcomb, Bill (Bobbie) Tranter and John (Lisa) Tranter; son-in-law, Jeff Lynn; 12 grandchildren, Jason Lynn, Ryan Lynn, Josh Lynn,  Meg Canady and Rob Lynn, Hilary Huff, Chad Halcomb, Tyler Halcomb, Mandy McLaughlin, Ali Mills, Zach Tranter and Casey Tranter; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anne (Bob) Malinka.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and Franklin College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.

Bob was a businessman in Franklin for many years, owning Tranter Industries and Tran-Ayer Industrial Sales.

Bob’s passion was Dixie Land Jazz music. He was a lifelong collector and listener. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin. He was a past Franklin City Councilman and a past president of Hillview Country Club. Bob was a member of the Franklin Rotary Club and Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at Franklin College.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
