David ‘Bud’ DeMott

David “Bud” DeMott, 88, Greenwood, passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015.

Born on March 29, 1927, in Indianapolis to the late Charles and Anna (Haug) DeMott, he was a 1945 graduate of Center Grove High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

After his military service, David studied watchmaking and worked for a short time as a watchmaker, before starting his more than 30-year truck driving career. He retired from Roadway Express at the age of 58.

An avid sports fan, he truly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and often spent his time at auctions collecting “treasures.”

Bud still lived independently in his childhood home.

He was a devoted father to Tony (Cheryl) DeMott, Kelli (Bob) Park, Marty DeMott, Lori Wulf; a devoted grandfather to Nisha (Scott) Burton, Shawna (Paul) Prather, Evan and Hannah Wulf and Joel Park; and a devoted great-grandfather to Cole, Eli and Zoe Prather and Eliza, Joe and Rudy Burton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janette in 1999 and one sister and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
