Roxie Mae Flora-Lowe

MORGANTOWN

Roxie Mae (Burge) Flora-Lowe, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at the Franklin Meadows Nursing Home. She was a resident of Morgantown.

Roxie was born in Indianapolis on Nov. 19, 1927, to her parents, the late Clarence and Carol (Jones) Burge.

She married William J. Flora Jr. on May 2, 1947, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1970, after 23 devoted years of marriage. Roxie later married Ira Lowe, and he preceded her in death after 25 loving years of marriage.

Roxie is survived by two children, Melody (Randy) Coffman of Edinburgh and William J. “Bill” (Lidia) Flora of Trafalgar; daughter-in-law, Cindy Flora of Trafalgar; sons-in-law, Kenny Stapp and Steven Chapman, both of Morgantown; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three children, Deborah K. Chapman, Aletha Stapp and Ralph E. Flora.

Roxie was a homemaker and a member of Morgantown General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She enjoyed singing and was instrumental in organizing many gospel singing events at the Triggers Restaurant in Morgantown. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and reminiscing with family and friends.

Brother Stan White will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
