Rodney L. ‘Rod’ Hinsch

BARGERSVILLE

Rodney L. “Rod” Hinsch, 69, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at his residence in Bargersville.

He was born June 22, 1946, in Indianapolis, to Virgil and Evalyne (McGee) Hinsch.

He married Suzanne C. Hinsch on Oct. 16, 2004, in Indianapolis; she survives.

He retired as a sergeant after 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received two Purple Hearts and served in the Special Forces.

He was a master scuba diver, life member of the Whiteland VFW, life member of Special Operations Association and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne C. (Campbell) Hinsch of Bargersville; his mother, Evalyne (McGee) Hinsch of Bargersville; a daughter, Tracy Comstock of Clarksville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and a good friend, Kevin Nassiri of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The Rev. John Eley will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Monday at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, with full military honors, with burial to follow.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin is handling arrangements.
