Police: Thieves take packages from woman’s porch

A Center Grove area woman had two packages stolen from her front porch, within minutes of being delivered.

More than $1,000 worth of clothing was stolen from the home in the 6300 block of Deerwood Court, according to a police report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman works from home and has multiple packages for her business delivered to her house. Around 1 p.m. Thursday, the woman heard a truck drive up to her house and deliver a package. About 20 minutes later, another truck pulled up to deliver a package.

When she went to grab her packages from her front porch about 15 minutes later, she found no boxes at her door. She called both companies to confirm with the drivers that packages were left on the front porch.

One of the delivery drivers said they saw a gold Chevrolet Blazer with a man and a woman inside pull into the woman’s driveway as he was pulling away, the police report said. A neighbor also saw the Blazer pull into the resident’s driveway.

Sheriff Doug Cox said he suspected the thieves likely followed the delivery truck.
