Ex-NBA player to speak about substance abuse

A former NBA player who lost his career due to substance abuse will speak at Center Grove High School on Wednesday.

Chris Herren will speak at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, 2717 S. Morgantown Road.

Herren was drafted into the NBA in 1999 and played for the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics, but his career was cut short due to substance abuse. He wrote a book about his downfall and is the subject of an ESPN Films documentary.
