Betty Jean Moore

Betty Jean (Waltman) Moore, 90, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 10, 2015, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Brown County and a former resident of Union Township in Johnson County.

Betty was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Brown County, to the late Lowell C. and Ethel (Aynes) Waltman.

She was a 1942 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to marry Lee Aubrey Moore on Sept. 28, 1946, in Brown County. He preceded her in death Aug. 1, 1983, after 37 devoted years of marriage.

Betty retired in 1990 as a clerk for the Johnson County Superior Court after 10 years of service.

She was a member of Christian Chapel Church in Johnson County, where she participated in the ladies aid group. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 584 in Providence and a member of the Red Hat Society.

Betty is survived by nieces, Rosemarie (Vick) Sullivan of Brown County, Joyce Montgomery and Janice Hall, both of North Carolina, and Teresa (Steve) Burnette of Brown County; two nephews, James Waltman of Goshen and Richard (Brenda) Waltman of Madison, Alabana; six great-nieces; and 11 great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Patty Daniel and James Waltman.

The Rev. Nelson Lee will conduct a private graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
