Eugene Albert Smith, 68, of Trafalgar, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.

He was born March 22, 1947, to Augustus Eugene and Mary Jo (Tungate) Smith in Lebanon, Kentucky.

Eugene retired from Rolls Royce after some 35 years.

He was a member of the UAW and enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, gin sensing, growing fruit trees and enjoyed the outdoors.

He survived by his wife, Shirley (Hodson) Smith; sons, Albert Smith of Steamboat, Iowa, Andy (Ginger) Smith of Shelbyville, Christopher Smith of Trafalgar; daughter, Rebecca Smith of Greenwood; stepson, John Leffler of Trafalgar; stepdaughters, Carol (Hershel) Wagers of Nineveh and Almeda (Cecil Dale) Hall of Martinsville; brother, Charles (Shirley) Smith of Franklin; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Mary Jo Smith; brother, Jerry Lee Smith; and a grandson, Cody Hall.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
