Dorothy Mae (Lewis) Pierce, 99, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.
She was born to the late Herbert and Edith Lewis.
Dorothy graduated from Southport High School in 1934.
In April 1936, she married Ernest W. Pierce.
She was a wonderful homemaker her entire life, and enjoyed crocheting, reading and music of all kinds.
She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Wanamaker and also a member of the Acton Order of the Eastern Star for 75 years.
Dorothy is survived by her grandchildren, Terry (Walter) Coahran, Peggy (Dennis) Moran, James (Margaret) Bodenreider, Connie (Robert) Ferrill and Donna (Scott) LePage; nine great grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; and daughter, Jeanette Mae.
Visitation will be conducted from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Little and Sons Stop 11 Chapel, 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Henry Hawkins will be officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
