Clark-Pleasant parents invited to discuss school changes

Parents of Clark-Pleasant students are invited to share input on how the school district should change.

Clark-Pleasant will have two public meetings to gather input from parents and residents — at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Both meetings will be in the Clark-Pleasant administration building, 50 Center St., Whiteland.

School officials are proposing closing Sawmill Woods Elementary and turning Clark-Pleasant Intermediate School into a school for kindergarten through fifth grade students. The middle school would then become a sixth- through eighth-grade school. By 2017, too many students would be entering the intermediate school to keep class sizes where officials want them to be.

The public meetings follow discussions the school board has had since the spring, after two community meetings.
