Mary Jane Wyrick

FRANKLIN

Mary Jane Wyrick died Friday, July 31, 2015, at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin.

She was born Nov. 16, 1922, in the Hopewell community, the daughter of Mark Van Nuys and Marianne Copeland-Van Nuys.

She married William T. Wyrick in 1944, who preceded her in death in 1996.

She was an English and French teacher and later a substitute teacher while raising a family in New Jersey and New York before retiring with her husband to the family farm in Hopewell in 1981.

Survivors include children, Dianne Wood of Indianapolis, Sarah Jane Anderson of West Newton, Massachusetts, Don Wyrick of Ocala, Florida, and Bill Wyrick of Huntington Station, New York; and a brother, Robert C. Van Nuys of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Sven Anderson, Sage Anderson, Rebecca Wyrick, Olivia Wyrick and Ben Wyrick.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School and Franklin College.

She was a member of the Phi Beta Pi sorority and active in the Charlotte Emerson Club, PEO Sisterhood and the Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and being with her grandchildren.

Rev. Peter Jessen will conduct a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Wright Chapel at the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson St., in Franklin. A graveside service will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. A reception for friends of the family will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin United Methodist Community in the Community Room.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin.
