Senior services to host Dining in the Dark

Johnson County Senior Services will host an event to raise money for local seniors while calling attention to older people with disabilities.

On Aug. 6, the not-for-profit serving older adults will host Dining in the Dark, a three-course meal, served in complete darkness. The event will start at 6 p.m. at the Indiana Masonic Home.

Cost is $50 per individual or $500 reserved table for eight.

Diners can get in touch with all of their senses as they savor the smell and taste of the dining experience.

The event is designed to highlight what individuals who are visually impaired experience. The event is also to raise awareness to the increasing number of older adults who’s problems go unnoticed by most of the population.

Johnson County Seniors Services’ goal is to raise $44,378, which would add an additional vehicle that provides free door-to-door transportation for a year.
