Genell Elliott Kearney

AZLE, TEXAS

Genell Elliott Kearney, 98, a former resident of Franklin and Ellettsville, passed away the morning of Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Azle Manor Nursing Facility in Azle, Texas.

Genell was born May 29, 1917, in a small frame house along Mount Tabor Road, two miles north of Ellettsville, to Frank Westmoreland and Elsie Mae Headdy Elliott. She was the last surviving sibling of 10 children.

She was a member of the Baptist Church of Ellettsville, joining the church when she was just a young child.

She was a retired bookkeeper and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Genell was preceded in death by her two husbands, Robert G. Kearney Jr. and Lincoln E. Cole; her parents; daughter-in-law, Patricia Powell Kearney; and her nine siblings, Winfred Headdy, Lorean Elliott Edwards, Herman R. Elliott, Catherine Elliott Parrish, Leota Elliott Terman, James Lowell Elliott, Charles F. Elliott, Paul R. Elliott and Erma Elliott Fox.

She is survived by her son, Robert G. Kearney III, her daughter, Janis Kearney Tenny and husband, Larry; three granddaughters, Leslie Oliver, Claire Williams and Julia Tenny; and two great-granddaughters, Carlie and Caitlyn Lattner, all of Texas. She will be greatly missed by her family, a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jaybird Cemetery in Springtown, Texas.
