Man finds burned handkerchief on vehicle

A Greenwood man called police after he found a burned handkerchief hanging out of his fuel tank.

On Wednesday morning, the resident came out to his truck to find a handkerchief that had been set on fire hanging from the tank opening. The incident happened in the Lofts of Valle Vista, off Smith Valley Road, east of Madison Avenue.

The handkerchief burned out before the fire reached the tank, and there was no damage to the vehicle, according to the police report.

Police do not have a suspect and are unsure why the truck in the 600 block of Monte Vista Drive was targeted.
