School suppllies sought for United Way project

United Way of Johnson County is collecting school supplies for low-income children through its annual Fast Track Program.

Donations can be made directly to United Way of Johnson County, at local businesses with collection boxes or at “Stuff the Bus” events.

Local businesses with collection boxes include all Horizon Bank branches, Huntington National Bank branches and Mutual Savings Bank branches.

Three collection events will occur this year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart stores at 2125 N. Morton St., Franklin; 882 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, and 1133 S. Emerson Ave., Greenwood.

Items requested include backpacks, three-ring binders, composition notebooks, spiral notebooks, loose leaf paper, scissors, ear buds, yellow highlighters, dry-erase markers, glue sticks, markers, colored pencils, red ink pens, rulers and large pink erasers. Due to generous donations, United Way of Johnson County is well-stocked on crayons, pencils and blue and black ink pens.
