Harold Leroy Dougherty

FRANKLIN

Harold Leroy Dougherty, 90, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

He was born March 26, 1925, to Ira and Iva (Fisher) Dougherty in Whiteland.

He was a World War II U.S. Marine and a retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 in the Indiana Army National Guard, retiring after 39 years of service.

Harold was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Gun Fighters Club. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, tending to his lawn and landscaping.

He is survived by five children; sons, Ronald Leroy Dougherty of Greenwood, Charles Kevin (Dara) Dougherty of North Vernon, Larry Wayne Dougherty of Franklin, Thomas Alfred (Shelly) Dougherty of Franklin; and daughter, Sherry Jane (Stan) Bunting of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita Elizabeth (Huntsman) Dougherty; two brothers, Carl Dougherty and Oren Dougherty; two sisters, Oval Roush and Nina Scarth; and a great-grandchild, Brennan Dougherty.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St., with inurnment in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
