Rain postpones work on railroad crossings

Two construction projects on railroad crossings in Franklin have been delayed due to rain within the past two weeks.

The railroad crossings on Jefferson Street and Commerce Drive were supposed to be closed last week while construction crews with the Louisville & Indiana Railroad and CSX Transportation repaired and upgraded the crossings. But due to the heavy rain over the past two weeks, crews were not able to repair the crossings as planned.

Because of the delays, the crews moved onto another project outside of Franklin, but will return in the future. No rescheduled construction date has been set.

The crossings of Monroe Street and Cincinnati Street were repaired and upgraded as scheduled.
