Sing along with ‘Frozen’

Lovers of the popular songs in a Disney movie can show off their skills this month.

The Greenwood Public Library, 310 S. Meridian St., will have a “Frozen” singalong at 7 p.m. Friday. The event will be at Old City Park.

Here is what Emily Ellis, head of reference and teen services, said about the event.

What activities are planned?

We’re planning a full night of family fun. There will be Disney karaoke, a Disney costume contest and parade, a kids craft table with a “Frozen” themed activity, games including an outdoor snowball fight and freeze tag, Disney trivia, and we’ll be giving away several “Frozen” raffle prizes.

Where did you get the idea for the event?

We host an outdoor movie, Starlight Movie Nights, at the library every summer as a part of our Summer Reading Program. Our theme this year is “DIY,” so we thought it would be fun to host a movie musical singalong. When we saw that “Frozen” was available, we thought that would be a great family event.

What should families bring?

Families should bring blankets and chairs. They are also welcome to bring coolers and snacks with them. And of course, come in costume.

How many people are you expecting?

We are anticipating between 400 to 600 people to attend. Registration is not necessary. There is plenty of space to spread out your blankets and enjoy the movie!

How much does it cost?

The event is free. There will be food available for purchase, but all of the activities and the movie are free.
