Police: Husband locks wife in room

Daily Journal staff reports

An Edinburgh man was arrested after his wife said he hit her and locked her in the bathroom.

Roger Sinclair, 33, 712 S. Roosevelt Ave., was arrested on charges of criminal confinement, resisting law enforcement and domestic battery.

Sinclair’s wife told police he locked her in the bathroom overnight, according to the police report. She told police Sinclair hid a cellphone in her car to record her conversations and then confronted her with the recording. During the argument, Sinclair locked her in the bathroom, and any time she would try to leave he threatened to kill her.

Nearly 12 hours later, he let her out and hit her, the report said.

When Edinburgh police came to the home, Sinclair ignored calls to come out of the house, ran into an officer inside and pushed the officer to his knees. Police used a stun gun to get Sinclair into handcuffs, the report said.

Sinclair was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he is being held without bond.
