Franklin pharmacy won’t get reserved parking spot

A new downtown Franklin pharmacy’s request for a reserved parking spot was denied by the city.

Andrew and Jamie Murray, owners of Franklin Community Pharmacy, 30 S. Water St., had asked to have one curb parking spot in front of their business reserved for the pharmacy or with a time limit.

They wanted to help elderly and disabled customers avoid long walks to the pharmacy and plan to offer curbside prescription delivery.

The Franklin Board of Public Works & Safety unanimously denied the request, saying it would be difficult to enforce and other downtown businesses would want their own reserved parking. Several downtown businesses have made similar requests in the past, they said.
